Department of History is one of the oldest Departments and exists since the very inception of the college, i.e. 7th August, 1972. Major in History was introduced in the session 2003-04. Enriched with 2 experienced permanent and 1 Guest faculty members, the Department is highly active in the curricular and extra-curricular activities. Special features of the Department are as follows:

  1. Excellent faculty members with undergraduate teaching experience.
  2. Good results at undergraduate level.
  3. The faculty members are active in social work.
  4. Good departmental library.
  5. Started post graduate distance education through IDOL
  6. Conducts Seminar Classes every week where students are encouraged to present Seminar Papers prepared under the guidance of teachers.
  7. Displays the portraits carved in wood of prominent personalities of the world in different fields including those of the saints and freedom fighters of India in the Departmental Room.
  8. Established a Museum in the Departmental Room.
  9. Has instituted the award to the students securing more than 80% of marks in History in Higher Secondary Final Examination.
